South-Solstice Equal 28-Day Months:

Brief Contents:

4. Designation of Day of Month

.

1. Year-Start Rule:

.

The calendar year starts with the Monday that starts nearest to the South-Solstice.

.

…or nearest to an approximation to the South-Solstice, based on the assumption that a South-Solstice occurs exactly every 365.2422 days. …starting from the actual South-Solstice of Gregorian 2017.

.

The approximation in the paragraph before this one is used by the main proposal for South-Solstice Equal 28-Day Months. Therefore that calendar’s year-start rule can be called an arithmetical year-start rule.

.

I call this the “South-Solstice Nearest-Monday year-start rule”.

.

Above I’ve defined two versions for that rule, an astronomical version and an arithmetical version. …and I specified that the arithmetical version is the one that I designate for my main proposal of South-Solstice Equal 28-Day Months.

.

2. Year-Division Structure:

.

The 13X28 year-division structure:

.

In a common year there are 13 equal months, each with 28 days.

.

Roughly every 5.6 years, on the average, the above-specified year-start rule will result in a year whose length is 53 weeks instead of 52 weeks.

.

In such a year, referred to as a “leapyear”, that extra, 53rd, week is added as part of the last month, which thereby becomes a 35-day month.

.

Naming of Months:

.

Not specified. But it is suggested that months be named by numbering. In particular, Esperanto numbering is suggested for month-naming:

.

Unua, Dua, Tria, Kvara, Kvina, Sesa, Sepa, Oka, Nua, Deka, DekUnua, DekDua, DekTria

.

Designation of Day of the Month:

.

Indicated by week-of-month and day-of-week.

.

Thus, today’s date, January 25th, is indicated by:

.

Month 2, Week 1, Friday.

.

This “week-&-day” format is due to Karl Palmen, who uses it in his Week & Month Calendar.

.

Michael Ossipoff

.

Month 2, Week 1, Friday (South-Solstice Equal 28-Day Months)

Dua, Week 1, Friday

5F (South-Solstice WeekDate)

(…meaning Friday of week 5)

January 25th (Roman-Gregorian Calendar)
